Working
With Men and Women Who Have Suffered Sexual
Abuse - Two Day Course:
As the
prevalence of disclosure of sexual abuse is
increasing (particularly with regards to men)
and more people are coming forward for help and
support, we feel this is an important course
which is designed to help and assist those
professionals who may come into contact or work
directly with adult survivors of sexual abuse.
The course will provide insight and
understanding of the issues surrounding the
subject along with opportunities to explore and
develop strategies for working with this client
group.
This 2 day
course is part experiential, part educational
and part exercise based. The course will provide
information on the prevalence and the impact of
sexual abuse on children and adults. By using
examples of best practise the course examines
the nature of the support which can be offered
to clients. Through experiential learning
participants will gain insight into the
psychological and emotional impact of a client's
sexual abuse. Due to the sensitivity of the
subject matter a plenary session will be held at
the end of each day which provides an
opportunity for debrief.
